Evangelism and discipleship

Evangelism and discipleship
We act on spreading the word of God through evangelizing and discipling different souls.
As a Christ centered organization we work towards developing a Christ acknowledging society and generation
through our different activities including pastors’ discipleship fellowship, pastors’ wives’ discipleship
fellowship, children bible clubs, training church leaders, missions to village churches, building churches
and the smile youth hub.

Pastors’ discipleship fellowship

Pastorship is one of the most essential ministry in the body of Christ.
Here no mistakes are ought to be done and on this, we work together with pastors to bring them together and disciple each other on reaching our purposed goal in Christ as Jesus directed us in Mathew 28:19-20.
In this fellowship pastors come together, work out in unity and love, share a snack and talk about the
different ministry works together, and teach each other more in the word of God.

Pastors’ wives’ discipleship fellowship. The pastor and the pastors’ wife as their best example so sensitivity in their lives is very strict. It is always
best that pastors’ wives’ come together and always settle their lives towards building a great Christ
forcused and centered generation in the ministry.

Children bible clubs Jesus said “let the children come to me for such is the kingdom of Heaven”, and in this we do our best
that children come closer to God through studying God’s word and learning more about how to live a
Godly way in the society. Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he
will not depart form it”, discipling a child in the way of the Lord  help them overcome different challenges in life and also work to reduce crime rate while it is still down.

Training church leadersChurch leaders are a great resource to the community so they have to be taught on how they can
improve the community. In this we follow the example of Jesus He set when he taught his disciples for
how to handle different circumstances and challenge they would face so church leaders and ministers
also need to be taught and discipled in the word of God.

Mission to village churchesReaching out to different churches in villages so as to encourage them and help them know that other
churches and different groups of people care about them. This encourages them to spread spread the
word of God knowing that they are not alone in this. We also encourage other missionaries to join us in
this walk to visit different churches and strongly establish the word of God.

Building churchesWith help from devoted supporters and volunteers, we extend help to growing churches in order to
establish permanent structures for worshiping in. this is done by mostly our volunteers who devote in their time and visit these churches and also engage in the building activities. Pastors and saints of these
churches also help in developing and establishing this work of God.

Smile youth hubAs the biggest population, the youths need to be trained to walk in the way of the Lord for the bible says in psalm 119:9 “how shall a young person stay pure? By obeying your word and following its rules”. The Smile youth hub is always working towards clearing the youths’ minds and directing them in the way
they should move in this world. This helps them overcome things like drug abuse, committing crimes and many other habits that are not good for them.

Education Support Initiative

Child Sponsorship

SCU provides educational support to children through the generous support from sponsors.
A sponsored child is availed with fees, basic health and feeding to ensure holistic growth and well-being of child while at school.
Children also exchange written letters to their sponsors to express their gratitude and to know their sponsors on personal level.

Catch up classes

A wide range of children (neglected, disabled and un-schooled) in the many slum communities affiliated
to SCU greatly benefit from the TESSA curriculum where we teach basic literacy and numeracy
.Many of these children’s parents helplessly toil to avail the basic home necessities due to unemployment, blue-
collar and one off jobs that add a small house-hold income which cannot support education.

Professional Twinning.

-Many students lack the resources required to upgrade from high school to college and into the working
community so as to become relevant change agents to the society but through this program the
professionalism abroad is rooted into the local society as a Lawyer, Doctor or any other Senior citizen
abroad sponsors a child in Uganda to change society through a similar trend of craftsmanship.

Building Schools.

Step out teams bless and get involved with communities in SCU through building schools.
Many of these schools are poorly structured and very unconducive for learning but through the kindness and selfless gratitude of the step out teams; We get on ground and build better structures thereby ensuring that
children study in enriched learning environments.

Life skills women

To any developing country, skills and knowledge are dividing force to economic growth and social
stability. In Uganda, in the slums where smile charity Uganda extends most of its activities, women are
in the lowest level of participation due to lack of education which causes a low impact in the society.
Reaching the gravity of issues, it was highlighted by Smile charity Uganda that efforts are needed to
ensure survival and empowerment of these women by life skills development program. The program
attempts to promote the women’s capacity to develop by their participation in skill training various life
skills training in tailoring, knitting, handcrafts and others

Skills training will be effective to women especially who can perform traditional crafts or manual labor
work and in the end will enhance and be able to fight the evil of poverty.

Missions, Gap year, Step-out & Bespoke trips

Gap year volunteer program, missionary trips, step out trips, career break trips

We receive teams from all over the world that come to serve with SCU in different ways. These include; gap year students, gospel and medical missionaries, career breakers and those on step out trips among others. As they work and serve, they get to learn about life in a different country and effectively share the love of Christ cross-culturally.

With this program, the teams join the local team as part of their placement to help in providing vital education in some of the schools we partner with and the catch up classes in NABULAGALA COMMUNITY. Through their involvement in this ministry, communities have been blessed as a result of activities such as; children’s Bible clubs, gospel outreaches and life skills training among others within Kampala, Mpigi and Wakiso Districts.

In addition, teams come and work on specific predefined projects such as building structures in schools, churches, homes and so on as well as gospel and medical missions. They may get involved both physically/practically and financially and this gives them an opportunity to extend the love of Christ through such charitable works.

One may choose to support the work based on his/her area of interest.
